Sand is the only force making the dolls move.
A little boy makes the two roosters fight. Then a dog runs out from the shadows and frightens them away.

The construction is very similar to a shishiodoshi (a traditional bamboo fountain). Sand is the only force making the figures move. You will never find a similar creation anywhere else. There were no details about this kind of karakuri mechanism in the available literature, which made the reconstruction very difficult.
